Small Claims Court is a branch of Superior Court of Justice. In small claims court, you can sue for money or the return of personal property valued at $35,000 or less, not including interest and costs. Your claim must be for one of the two following reasons. For Money or for Damages.

 

Claims for money owed under an agreement, such as:

• unpaid debt for goods or services sold and delivered

• unpaid loans

 

Claims for damages, such as:

• property damage

• breach of contract
